La Campana National Park

Mountains, Native Palms and unique wildlife at the Coastal Range

Description

Experiencia en detalle

We will visit this National Park created in 1967 and declared a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in 1985.

It is located 110 km from Santiago in the middle of the coastal mountain range.

Charles Darwin visited this park in 1834 and was amazed at the geography and biodiversity that can be found.

The good thing about this experience is that you can decide how to spend the day: there are options for demanding trekkers, photographers, or also if you just want to spend a day relaxing in nature and having a picnic.

Depending on the season, we will choose the best sector to spend the day.

In the Ocoa sector, you can walk to a 20-meter waterfall in 12 kilometers round trip.

In this sector is found 50% of the species of Jubaea chilensis, a native and endemic palm tree that is the southernmost in the world and is in danger.

Another option is to make a journey from one sector of the park to the other, we will start in Ocoa, go up to the portezuelo and then go down to the Granizo sector with a very different vegetation with a native sclerophyllous forest that appears there due to the influence of the sea.

Total distance 12 km.
